Custody is part of the Securities Services Operations business. The Custody services provided include: Transactions Management, Asset Servicing, Tax and Forex to our Institutional clients. Typical ICG Custody clients of Citi include financial institutions (FIs), banks, public sector/sovereign pension funds, as well as investment banks, asset managers, major international and national-level corporations, etc.

Job Purpose:

This Functional Lead role will be focused on providing leadership and subject matter expertise to simultaneously manage projects, business analysts and testers, build capacity to take on new business and develop the operational and talent strategies. The candidate will also be required to develop and maintain a robust, highly control focused environment, ensuring that full end to end knowledge of processes and overall impact to our clients is understood throughout regional and functional Operations team, to enable a control and result focused outlook.

The individual will be managing and allocating available resources to ensure seamless completion of client implementations, technology deployment and Regulatory/Mandatory changes to the Custody Operations environment, in partnership with Client Implementations, Technology and the Business.
The successful candidate must be equipped to participate as part of the wider Operational Readiness Team, partnering with like roles in other regions and key internal stakeholders to drive the vision and strategy of the business, meeting the ever changing requirements of the external marketplace and ensuring the optimisation of the Operational footprint.

Specific areas of responsibility include:
  • Lead a team of Business Analysts to deliver the assigned projects, taking responsibility for making sure the projects are set up and delivered successfully. Lead project governance, organisation, delivery, planning and control, and risk and issue management.
  • People leadership across the Projects team and stakeholder management with a range of senior leaders.
  • Responsible for staff development and career progression
  • Foster a culture of high performance and risk/control management.
  • Collaborate with technology and product teams to agree and prioritise programme goals and objectives
  • Participate fully as a part of the Operations Readiness Leadership team, constantly striving to find new ways to collaborate, innovate, identify synergies, transform and improve the business to ensure overall success
  • Influence and provide leadership to the department, including:
    • Identify, develop and retain key talent. Manage performance and development of the direct reports and support Section Managers leading the broader team
    • Ensure the team has clear goals and objectives, supporting both personal and business development
    • Ensuring accurate management of FTE capacity requirements
    • Proactively identify/manage operational risk and ensure exceptional service delivery
    • Implement best practise process & controls to achieve high quality output
    • Support cultural implementation of Operations Excellence
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders such as Product, Technology, Risk etc. to ensure there is a complete understanding of operational constraints, risks and needs, that there is continuous, open and constructive dialogue aiming to increase business growth within a controlled risk environment
  • Engage in Product Reviews and all new and prospective deal review discussions to assess the Operational impact
  • Develop a framework of a mutual commitment to meeting evolving business requirements and adapting to changing circumstances. Treat change as an opportunity to improve the service
  • Provide leadership and ownership in seeking solutions when crisis situations arise
  • Manage to tight deadlines and budget commitments
  • Keep abreast of all Regulatory and Industry changes, noting how these may impact our clients and operational team
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Relevant Custody Operations / Client Service and Project Management experience with proven large/ complex team leadership experience in a dynamic environment across a regional footprint
  • Experience developing and delivering operational strategies and strategic change programs in a fast paced, large global financial services firm
  • Extensive Custody experience and detailed understanding of operational organisation and clients needs
  • Have strong technical knowledge of Custody products and regional regulatory requirements, stay abreast of changes and synthetise information quickly
  • Ability to establish and build trust with (internal or external) clients and senior leaders throughout the business, demonstrate strong communication, advisory and influencing skills with a strong client service orientation
  • Proven ability to lead cost saving and/or risk mitigation initiatives
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise within aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in situations requiring analytical, interpretive, and problem solving techniques
  • Results oriented, creative and resourceful problem solver using impeccable integrity and judgment
  • In depth knowledge of Citi Policies and regulations preferred
