Full Stack Web Developer

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented full stack web developer to extend our capabilities in delivering rich and engaging user experiences.

Company Overview

Founded in 2008, Storm Ideas are an Edinburgh-based team that create groundbreaking web-based solutions and mobile apps every day for incredible clients all around the world. We also focus on developing and growing our own products, including Twibbon, which has been used by over 60 million people since its inception in 2009.

You’ll be working in a fast paced, exciting and fun environment amidst the lovely surroundings of The Shore in Leith. Key Responsibilities

You will be:

  • Writing high-quality code that is understood by others and runs within any performance requirements
  • Learning and utilising our DevOps processes and tools to enable rapid delivery
  • Eliminating technical debt
  • Fixing emergency software defects and sharing what was learned from the failure
  • Helping to define the technical architectures for products
  • Designing the interactions of major components
  • Working with legacy code
  • Understanding business and technical considerations, balancing technical requirements with other business restrictions
  • Providing technical guidance to less experienced developers

Eventually, we’d like you to:

  • Work with DevOps to continually improve the toolchain
  • Produce software reused by Developers by contributing to our SDK
  • Liaise with project management colleagues when technical input is required

Qualifications, Skills and Traits

Candidates will be required to have:

  • Experience using C# and ASP.NET (specifically MVC and Web API)
  • Experience using SQL server
  • Experience using a JavaScript framework (preferably Angular/React/Vue).
  • Experience with HTML5 and CSS3
  • Experience using Git
  • At least 2 years’ commercial experience

The ideal candidate would also have:

  • A University Degree in Computer Science (or a related discipline)
  • Experience with Unit Testing / Testing frameworks in general
  • Experience using Continuous Integration / Deployment
  • Experience using Good OO practices
  • Experience developing mobile apps (e.g. using Swift, Objective C, Java, Xamarin, React Native, etc.)
  • Contributed to Open Source projects
  • An active Github profile


£35-40k pa, commensurate on experience, negotiable.
