Freight Forwarding Manager

Annual bonus based on company performance, Company Pension, 33 Days Leave including Public Holidays plus Christmas to New Year

Full-Time. Permanent. Hours Monday to Friday. Flexible working hours

My client is an export-buying and logistics company, they are a well-established business based in the Holmfirth area.

You would be responsible for managing, planning, advising, and organising international cargo exports and imports. Working with airlines for air freight, freight forwarders or shipping lines for sea freight, road transport and general parcel carriers. Additionally managing and organising the relationship with customs clearance agents in the UK and overseas and working closely with overseas offices.

Duties

  • Investigate and plan the most appropriate routes for shipments, taking account of the perishable and/or hazardous nature of the goods, cost, transit time and security, and record the data in the system.
  • Ensure the systems properly capture the required documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with overseas countries’ regulations and fiscal regimes, and the same for imports into the UK.
  • Negotiate rates contracts with airlines, carriers and customs clearing agents.
  • Become the Deputy Site Security Representative and ensuring our shipments remain SPX.
  • Liaise with destination customs agents on future and current shipments and provide support to information from the overseas office on the same.
  • Participate actively in the day-to-day operations including AWB and Dangerous Goods (DG) Note generation from our systems.
  • Become the lead person for Dangerous Goods.
  • Provide rates, support and technical guidance for Purchasing and Quotes for inward freight and customs, and to Quotes and Sales for export freight and customs.
  • To provide support as and when required across all business functions.
  • Support for freight and export regulatory requirements for export and import, across all departments
