Our client an international removals company are looking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to join their team at their Hertfordshire branch.

Leading and managing the finance function, t he Financial Controller plays a key role in ensuring the provision of a quality and timely service to the group.

As Financial Controller you will report to the Group Chief Financial Officer.  On a day-to-day basis you'll be working with all employees within the group, as well as liaising with customers, debtors and creditors.

Main Duties of the Financial Controller:

  • Ensure the timely recording of all financial transactions according to generally accepted accounting practice and in line with the requirements of Financial Reporting Standard.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information as required by the group, as well regulatory and statutory authorities.
  • Manage the Finance team, ensuring members are adequately trained and have access to resources to carry out the tasks allocated to them.
  • Set KPI's for the Finance team and monitor the performance of the team to ensure compliance with those set standards.
  • Establish and maintain a system of internal controls within the business to ensure the assets of the business are secured, liabilities are recognised, and accurate and timely reporting is provided.
  • Maintain a process for forecasting and budgeting the operations of the business and monitoring results against forecasts and identifying reasons for any variances. 
  • Assist management in identifying trends that are affecting the business, identifying opportunities, and developing solutions for any problems that may arise.
  • Manage the credit control function, ensuring credit is only given to customers with an agreed risk profile and that customers adhere to agreed terms.
  • Develop and maintain procedures to ensure spending on Capital equipment meets the requirements of the group and ensure an adequate return on investment.
  • Assist the development of IT systems and related processes to enable efficient operation of the Finance Department and other administrative functions.
  • Ensure that the finance monthly timetable is distributed and adhered to.
  • Ensure the monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts is carried out properly.
  • Ensure the reconciliation of all statutory liabilities including, but not limited to, VAT and PAYE.
  • Other duties as may from time to time be required by Senior Management.
  • Report risks, dealing with financial transactions on behalf of the company.
  • Ensure operations under your control strictly adhere to company OH&S and Environmental policies at all times, and report such risks to senior management.

We're keen to speak to professionals who have a minimum of 5 years previous work experience in a commercial environment and hold complete ACCA certification.

Skills & Experience required for the Financial Controller:5 years experience in a commercial environment.

  • Full ACCA qualification.
  • Net Suite experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Numerate and articulate.
