Finance Assistant - Term time only!

Location: Darlington

Salary: up to £32,076 (pro rata)

Hours: Full time, Monday - Friday (term time) - flexible min of 22.5hrs

Type: Contract until Dec 2024 (potential perm)

Imperial Recruitment Group is currently recruting for a Finance Assistant for a school/academy in Darlington.

This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to work term time only!

Duties:

Support in the preparation of the monthly management accounts

Preparing and posting month-end journals, (e.g. prepayments, accruals, deferred income, accrued income) and updating the related schedules.

Support with balance sheet reconciliations

Reconciling the Trust bank account

Process cash book entries and monitor banking transactions daily.

Support with monthly VAT returns

Maintain fixed asset schedules in line with the Trust’s financial policies and post-depreciation charges.

Produce grant income analysis

Collate and post inter-academy re-charges.

Post credit card transactions into the general ledger

Support in producing the consolidated Trust accounts.

Liaise with auditors and support with audit requirements including preparation of year end schedules.

Support Office Managers across the Trust with financial queries, ensuring that advice given is in line with the Trust’s financial policies and procedures.

To carry out your duties with full regard to the Trust's Equality Policy and Race Equality Scheme

To comply with Health and Safety policies, organisations statements and procedures, report any incidents/accidents/hazards and take a pro-active approach to health and safety matters in order to protect both yourself and others.

Any other duties of a similar nature related to the post which may be required from time to time.

Requirements:

AAT qualified or part qualified AAT

At least 3 years accounting experience in assisting with the production of management accounts

A sound understanding of audit processes

Experience of completing of fixed asset registers and calculation of depreciation charges

Well-developed analytical skills and ability to use excel

Experienced in the use of financial systems and financial reporting

Experience of managing banking transactions, cash book postings and completion of bank reconciliations

Experience of supporting with VAT returns
