Shipping Co-Ordinator - Poole

We have an exciting opportunity for a Shipping Co-ordinator to join a busy team based in Poole.

Our client is a well-established, family run business that distributes products to retailers throughout the UK whilst also handling distribution on a global scale.

The main purpose of the Shipping Co-Ordinator is to support the supply chain function of the organisation, ensuring it is efficient and effective. This role also encompasses distribution support and administration, including the co-ordination of movement and storage of goods from manufacturers and suppliers to the end user.

This is a varied role which can become very busy during peak times. Some shipping experience is essential to the role, and offers an exciting opportunity to develop a skill set within Import, Export and Logistics.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Build and maintain relationships with factories, encompassing paperwork, container loading and meeting the time requirements for vessels shipping
  • Manage third party warehouse fulfilment services and ensure all quality and performance standards are maintained with external logistics service providers
  • Provide administrative support including regular tracking documents so relevant teams are updated on stock delivery expectations

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Previous experience of working within Shipping is essentail, or an understanding of shipping
  • Strong planning, organisational and administrative skills - a logical and systematic approach to work
  • Knowledge and understanding of shipping manifests, international freight and supply chain ideally but not essential as long as you have an understanding of shipping
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication
  • Highly competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Knowledge of Sage Accounts 50 is an advantage but not essential
  • The ability to be part of a team - committed to working collaboratively with internal and external teams

Hours of work: 09.00am - 17.30pm Monday - Friday
