A successful Secondary School located in Waltham Forest, East London are looking to recruit a English Teaching Assistant in their popular and ever growing English department, Interested?
The successful English Teaching Assistant will spend the majority of their time working with GCSE pupils in English but there will be a requirement to work with A Level classes, depending on the demands of the curriculum. Due to the subjects on the curriculum it is essential that your degree will be in, or centred on, literature and language. Knowledge of different Literature on top of your specialism will of course be put to good use in the department as will a sound understanding of different principles.
As an English Teaching Assistant you will be there to support the class teacher in any given topic, helping students grasp theories and gain a better understanding of learning objectives in English. In this varying role there will be time spent working with smaller groups, who may have difficulties in a given area as well as developing gifted and talented pupils.
This really is a varied role and requires patience, understanding and a desire to get the best out of all the pupils you’re in contact with. Flexibility and hard work really is the key to becoming a successful Teaching Assistant.
Your experiences in the classroom can be put to excellent use both in practical terms during your teacher training and also in support of your PGCE application.
