Salary - £28,000 - £35,000 per annum

Electro-mechanical R&D Engineer

I have an opportunity to work with one of my clients in Southampton in a small dynamic team, the role has a wide scope of duties and has the potential to be moulded and developed by the right candidate as the company targets growth and enters a new phase of selling into a new market

Essential:

• Analogue and digital circuit design and schematic capture experience

• PCB layout and manufacture

• Report writing skills

• Reasonable grasp of statistical and mathematical principles

• Must be able to read scientific literature

• ECAD software experience (Kicad EDA or equivalent)

Preferable:

• Technical knowledge and/or experience collecting process data in a lab environment (Pressure, mass/volume flow, temperature measurement etc.)

• Python and Embedded C programming languages

• Experience in electronic systems design involving brushless DC motors drivers, solenoids, and LED lighting

• Experience with PCB hand-assembly involving surface mount packages

Nice to have:

• Basic understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes (particularly injection moulding and CNC machining)

• Experience designing electronics projects using Microchip PIC32 and ARM STM32 microcontroller families

• Understanding and/ or experience with additive manufacturing techniques (FDM, SLA)

• Understanding of intellectual property and patent application process

• Understanding of fluid mechanics principles at higher education level
