Our client is a key manufacturing division of a PE backed, international organisation supplying blue chip brands throughout the UK. With ambitious plans for further growth organically and via acquisition, the business seeks to build upon its market leading position and deliver significant shareholder value.

As part of their growth plans they wish to appoint a high calibre Financial Controller to drive profitable growth and improve operational effectiveness throughout the business. Whilst the FC will have full responsibility for managing the finance and accounting function, a key aspect of the role lies in driving commercial and operational improvement across the manufacturing operations and into the P&L.

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, key areas of responsibility will include:
  • Support, assist, and where necessary deputise for Operations Director
  • Manage and review monthly management accounts and ensure timely circulation of key performance indicators and variances against budget and forecasts, optimising information content
  • Control managed working capital and maximise cash generation
  • Ensure that proper and adequate financial and business processes are in place to support the financial control of the business
  • Work with department heads to provide measurement and monitoring of each department’s performance, improvement initiatives by analysing daily/weekly data to ensure optimal shop floor performance, ensure costs do not exceed plan, and need to manage and protect margin targets
  • Monitor and control of costs, ensuring costing system accuracy to manage and protect margin targets
  • Recommend and drive courses of action which ensure that profit opportunities are maximised
  • Identify areas of improvements for accounting systems to maximise efficiency and increase profit
  • Drive profit improvement and efficiency analysis and initiatives
  • Managing cash and overseeing cash collection
  • Accurate Forecasting P&L and cash (weekly / monthly /quarterly / annually)
  • Overseeing the budgeting and/or financial projections for the division (including cap-ex budgets)   
  • Being the finance lead on any ERP/business system changes for the division
  • Ensure utilisation and review within ERP generated costing sheets, contract reviews
  • Lead the support of annual audit of the division ensuring year end accounts are prepared accurately and in line with current accounting standards

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with several years' post qualification experience in a manufacturing organisation. They will be a self-starter with outstanding leadership abilities and a passion to improve performance/add value. ERP change management experience would be highly advantageous.
