Objectives and key tasks
*Create and edit 3D components and assemblies in Solidworks following Drawing Office procedures and industry standards where applicable.
*Translate 3D models into 2D drawings with all the specifications necessary to accurately represent the design intent while following Drawing Office procedures and drafting standards where applicable; ensuring all the information on the drawings is correct and gives consideration to the manufacturing, installation and servicing processes.
*Create detailed Pipework and Instrumentation Drawings for multiple systems and components.
*Ensure the bill of materials on drawings accurately reflects desired internal/supplier routing and internal part numbers and descriptors.
*Generate and rectifying additional client-friendly drawings and views for use in manuals as and when required by the technical team.
*Review and rectifying products upon request to bring in line with current model/drawing/BOM/production/purchasing requirements.
*Ensure any changes to products currently on the market are adequately tracked and documented through Engineering Change Requests and Orders following the correct process and that change implications are cleared with all people involved to minimise change impact.
*Must attempt to keep up to date with technology and standards.
*If required, visit agents, customers and shipyards to provide support, guidance and troubleshooting. Visit and meet with suppliers as required for discussing product requirements during the design stages.
*Have a good electrical knowledge or experience would be useful.
*Update the existing water maker ranges to be in line with our competitors and legislation
*Ensure the design of units coincides with the ease of production, ease of maintenance and usability for the end user
*Identify and materials certify new components taking into account suitability and commercial viability with the cost and lead time.
*Mechanical and hydraulic design. Knowledge of materials and engineering practices.
*Experience in either domestic or marine plumbing and heating systems would be advantageous.
*Design for manufacture following industry design/draughting standards. Attention to detail.
*Knowledge of hot water design and component specification.
*Proficient - Solidworks suite including Flow Simulation, Simulation and ePDM.
*Proficient - Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, Excel, Word.
*Bachelor's degree in subject related to Mechanical Engineering or equivalent level of experience in the field of pipework and heating.
*Understanding of flow dynamics and basic electronics.
