Depot Manager - Bristol - £29,000 + £2,000 performance bonus

We are seeking a dynamic and hands on Depot Manager to join our client's team during the set up phase and subsequently oversee day to day operations before the Depot officially opens.

The Depot Manager will play a pivotal role in the establishment of our clients new Bristol depot, managing logistics, staff, and ensuring the efficient distribution of their products. This role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent organisational skills, and a willingness to be actively involved in all aspects of depot operations, including deliveries when necessary.

The Role:

  • Lead the set-up and establishment of the Bristol depot, including layout planning, equipment procurement, and inventory management.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a small team of staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to fulfill their roles effectively.
  • Oversee daily depot operations, including order processing, stock management, and dispatch scheduling, to meet customer demands and maintain high service standards.
  • Alongside head office, assist in the management of logistics and transportation activities, coordinating deliveries and optimising routes for efficient distribution.
  • Monitor and maintain depot facilities, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and quality standards to uphold operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues, and foster positive relationships to drive customer retention and loyalty.
  • Perform hands-on tasks as needed, including loading/unloading vehicles, packing orders, and making deliveries to customers.

The Person:

  • Proven experience in a warehouse supervisory role, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a small team.
  • Excellent organisational abilities, with attention to detail and the capacity to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to work on the frontline, including physical tasks associated with depot operations.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and logistics software is desirable.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly in a warehouse environment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends, especially during peak periods.
  • A passion for Italian cuisine and dedication to delivering quality products and service.
