About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to join one of our busy and successful Quantity Surveying teams. The team you will be joining is highly experienced and has a number of Chartered Quantity Surveyors that will be able to guide you through every step of your career.

You will start your role as a Degree Apprentice within one of our busy Repair and Maintenance commercial teams. In this role you will gain insight into how the UK’s largest water company selects and manages its suppliers from the technical aspects of water pipe/sewer repair and maintenance through to processing a large amount of transactions to develop confidence in works management systems and gain an understanding of the method of repairs.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Attending construction sites to carry out physical measurement of work done. Initially this will be under supervision from Quantity Surveyor.
  • Building up estimates of the cost of construction based on the information gathered from attendance of site visits
  • Carrying out desktop quality assurance audits of work done
  • Assisting in producing contractual documents such as payment notices & change control
  • Assisting in estimating project costs from scope documents and verifying applications for payments
  • Using systems knowledge to generate regular financial reports
  • Working with Finance teams to accurately account for work done
  • Supporting the in producing tender documents and specifications

Your experience, skills and attributes may include:
  • Being enthusiastic and able to take ownership of tasks
  • Having an inquisitive nature with a keen eye for detail
  • Maintaining a positive attitude and being flexible to business needs
  • High level of drive to progress and develop
  • Must have an acceptable Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics. Acceptable qualifications include GCSE with grade C/4 or above and Functional Skills with Pass
