Position: Data Scientist (Mid-level & Senior)

Location: Bristol, Broadmead

Salary: £50,000 - £80,000 per annum (Based on role and experience)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hiring for the following positions:

  • 3 Senior Data Scientists (Must have Python, SQL, and Databricks with around 5+ years of experience in a Data Scientist role).
  • 3 Mid-level Data Scientists/Data Engineers (Must also have Python, SQL, and Databricks with approximately 3 years of experience).

About the Role:

Our client, a leading player in the risk management sector in Bristol, Broadmead, is looking for skilled Data Scientists to join their enthusiastic team. They currently have openings for 3 Mid-level Data Scientists/Data Engineers and 3 Senior Data Scientists. If you are an adept Data Scientist with a knack for machine learning, this is an exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team comprising data scientists, software engineers, and underwriters to craft data-driven solutions tailored to meet client requirements in risk and cyber reinsurance.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain comprehensive insights into the cyber risk landscape.
  • Source and refine datasets to facilitate cyber risk quantification.
  • Conduct thorough exploratory data analysis on novel datasets.
  • Clean and transform extensive raw datasets into actionable features.
  • Develop and assess machine learning models.
  • Continuously refine and enhance models deployed in production.
  • Stay abreast of the latest tools, methodologies, and technologies.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and machine learning (utilising libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, statsmodels, Spacy, Tensorflow/Keras).
  • Demonstrated experience in machine learning (both supervised and unsupervised).
  • Strong command of SQL.
  • Exposure to handling large, intricate, and unstructured datasets.
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts and data trends to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data visualisation.
  • Experience working within an agile software development framework.

Desired Skills:

  • Natural language processing expertise.
  • Familiarity with active learning techniques.
  • Proficiency in Bayesian statistics & probabilistic programming.
  • Knowledge of deep learning frameworks (Keras, PyTorch, Tensor Flow).
  • Exposure to graph databases and analytics.
  • Experience with large-scale stochastic modelling.
  • Familiarity with Dataiku's Data Science Studio.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, science, or mathematics, preferably with a focus on computer science.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
