Data Ethics/AI Ethics Lead - 6 months - INSIDE IR35

As a Data Ethics Lead, you will:

  • Use your subject matter expertise to inform practical, implementable guidelines and documentation.
  • Scope strategic opportunities to embed Data Ethics.
  • Work to identify areas of opportunity and good practice to inform the ongoing development of data ethics policy
  • Engage with external stakeholders in data ethics to ensure knowledge and ideas are brought into policy making
  • Commission research and the development of cross-government models for algorithmic transparency
  • Work to identify areas of opportunity and good practice to inform the development of algorithmic transparency
  • You will be expected to work flexibly and collaboratively on a range of projects where your expertise and skills are needed and will support a culture of agile working across your team.

Skills

  • Experience of working independently and leading significant, high-profile pieces of work, with limited oversight/input
  • Experience of working on data strategy or policy development, with the ability to think creatively and see the bigger picture
  • Experience of working on data ethics initiatives, having a good understanding of GDPR and data protection and their application and the interplay between the law and ethical considerations
  • Working knowledge of data ethics principles, industry standards, legal/regulatory requirements and supporting tools
  • Understanding of ethical boundaries when data is collected, stored and shared.
  • Relevant experience in AI ethics, AI research, Security, Trust & Safety, or similar roles.
  • Understanding of trustworthy generative AI.
  • Experience working with large-scale language/AI models
  • A skilled and confident communicator - comfortable engaging with and challenging internal and external stakeholders, able to work independently to understand and balance competing demands from internal and external stakeholders.

The role is for 6 months and you will need to be office based 3 days per week. Working through an Umbrella.
