Are you someone with a proven track record in data engineering, ready to lead and innovate? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Engineering Manager to manage a data development team who are responsible for delivering IT data solutions across Aviva.

As demand for data continues to grow across the organisation, we are in need of an experienced team lead from a technology background to manage development projects through the full project life cycle with specific focus on ETL / data store (data lake / warehouse) in an Amazon Web Services environment.

A bit about the job:

This is a great opportunity for the right technology-aware individual to lead a team of developers working on market leading technologies across a series of high impact projects. You will manage the development of data solutions across the Aviva software development life cycle, leading a team of up to 40 developers and technical analysts in a multi-project environment whilst driving innovation on our data technology platforms, ensuring we continue to provide the most effective solution for our customers. You will be accountable for estimating cost and effort of new work, acting as escalation point for any development related matters as well as ensuring development standards are adhered to and solutions are safely implemented and handed over to application support teams at the point they go live.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • An experienced team lead with conceptual understanding of data and associated technologies

  • Drive, get up and go and a can-do attitude to deliver projects and make a real step change in how data is consumed across Aviva

  • Experience of working within and managing a team through the software development life cycle

  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to influence and solve problems in a structured manner and can present technical concepts in easy-to-understand terms for business stakeholders

  • Related degrees/qualification/financial services experience are desirable but not essential

  • Starting salary circa £65,000 (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications)
