We are on the lookout for a Data Engineer to join our team on a 6-month initial contract. The role involves a variety of configuration and documentation tasks, with a focus on delivering services within planned timelines and to the required quality standards. The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient with the capability to initiate and progress projects effectively.

Day to Day of the Role:

• Undertake configuration and documentation tasks as part of the data engineering team.
• Work across various departments to support the streaming platform, improving data structures and pipelines.
• Handle queries and compile user data to enhance performance continuously.
• Collaborate with the Behavioural Data Engineering/Streaming Data Management team.
• Design and build data pipelines in line with product management team requirements.
• Maintain and ensure the functionality of existing data pipelines.
• Recommend and implement upgrades to services based on new GCP features.
• Manage changes to tracking specifications as required by product and feature teams.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical issues and extended office hours support for lower priority issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Solid understanding of GCP (Google Cloud Platform), including its capabilities and services.
• Experience working in a Scrum environment and familiarity with tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Proficiency in technologies such as Dataflow, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Compute, Memorystore/Redis, and Kafka.
• Programming skills in Java, Python, and Terraform.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining data pipelines and processing services.
• Ability to manage service upgrades and tracking specifications effectively.
