Cyber Security Engineer - Cardiff

A leading firm in Cardiff requires a Cyber Security Engineer with good experience in cyber security / IT security.

This role can be hybrid working, with 3 days in the office, and the rest working from home. You will join a Cyber Security Operations (SecOps) function, which has full responsibility for the Monitoring, Patching, and IT Security of the systems along with the backup solutions.

Experience Required:

• Essential 3+ years experience in cyber security, or IT security role relating to servers and networks. As well as the current cyber security threat landscape
• Have a current, working towards or want to study for an industry-recognised IT Security qualification
• Good knowledge of technical solutions for MFA, password management, secure file transfer and encryption & current cyber security threat landscape
• Working with 3rd party suppliers
• Strong stakeholder management skills at various levels

• Experience in patching high-availability solutions
• Knowledge and experience with using Veeam Backup & Replication, Mimecast, Microsoft Entra & Defender and Palo Alto Firewalls would be a huge bonus.

Responsibilities for the Cyber Security Engineer include:

• Remediation of vulnerabilities - including patching servers hypervisor firmware and software, and configuration changes to servers and applications.
• Configuration and maintenance of automated patching systems, security systems - including email systems, website access control systems, firewalls, and endpoint security software.
• When the Service Desk escalates IT security issues to the Security Team

The IT Security team sits alongside the IT Infrastructure team, Software Development, and Service Desk teams. The company is going through an exciting period of technical growth, expanding as a whole, with many significant and cutting-edge technical projects in the pipeline for the rest of 2024 and beyond.
