Our client, a rapidly expanding 3PL specialising in the management of regular commercial freight logistics, and in providing comprehensive services for the movement of high-niche market products, are looking to recruit a Customs Clearance Operator (part-time) to join a new Customs team based at a head office within the Heathrow Area.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday working pattern, working on a Part Time basis on an afternoon shift. Hours could be 12pm - 4pm or 1pm - 5pm. Flexibility with start and finish time

Main Purpose of the Role:

A new Customs Clearance team is required due to an increase in business. As part of a team, the Customs Clearance Operator will be responsible for completing the full customs declaration process. This will include liaising with internal and external stakeholder to obtain relevant information for HMRC Customs declarations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completing both import and export customs declarations in a busy customs clearance department.
  • Collecting relevant information from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting the compliance team with customs audits, amendments and other duties.
  • Ensure a high standard of work to maintain good levels of customer service and compliance.
  • Completing and monitoring the status of applications made to DEFRA on the IPAFFS/PEACH systems.
  • Undergo continuous training in order to stay up to date with the changing environment of UK customs.
  • Liaising with customers to assist with customs related questions and queries.
  • Invoicing of brokerage files through our in-house system.

To Be Considered:

  • Experience of working within freight forwarding operations.
  • An understanding of customs clearance requirements.
  • Good written & verbal communication skills.
  • IT knowledge including Microsoft Office is required.
