Are you a recent graduate? Or are you already a Cover Supervisor looking for a change of pace? Are you seeking a role within education but don't have a teaching qualification? Do you want flexibility of working part or full time? Are you considering completing a teaching degree but want to gain some real classroom experience first? Cover Supervision could be for you.

Southern Education Recruitment are looking for Cover Supervisors to work in Secondary Schools in the Tonbridge area on a short-term, contract and supply basis (sometimes on the day cover).

Being a Cover Supervisor, you do not have to have experience in each subject to be considered, just a passion for teaching and strong behaviour management would be sufficient. You must have a minimum of a degree (some school-based or tuition experience is desirable).

We are looking for graduates with a university degree within these common school subjects:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science (All sciences)
  • Humanities (Geography/History)
  • PE/Sports Science

In addition to the above subjects, ability to be able to provide cover across a broader curriculum (General Cover) is highly desirable. All prep/planning would be provided.

As a Cover Supervisor you would need to:

  • Be flexible and available to attend a supply day with relatively short notice
  • Be highly adaptable, as Cover Supervisor's often deliver a range of ready planned subjects
  • Have excellent classroom management skills
  • Have confidence in your ability to bond with pupils but also set boundaries and follow the school behaviour policy

In return, we can offer you:

  • Valuable teaching/ school experience
  • Competitive rates of pay including holiday accrual
  • Weekly pay
  • Access to discounted CPD (Continued Professional Development) Courses

For those who really enjoy the role of a Cover Supervisor and impress at the schools they cover in, there could be the opportunity for permanent roles and possibly even the offer of teacher training from school's registered with such programmes. You'd have a dedicated recruitment consultant supporting you to find such roles if requested.

All candidates must:

  • Provide an enhanced DBS registered on the update service. If you do not hold a valid DBS, be willing to apply for a new one with the assistance of Southern Education Recruitment. The cost of a DBS is a one-off payment of £38 with an annual subscription of £13 per year to the DBS Update Service.
  • If you have been a UK resident for less than 5 years, a right to work visa must be provided and a criminal background check certificate must be provided for any country resided in for 6 months or more within the past 5 years.
  • Provide all required documentation (ID, Qualifications, references)
