A challenging and exiting opportunity has arisen for a contract project manager to start ASAP.

To run an export contract in conjunction with our international partner to ensure the project is delivered on time, within specification and to cost.


Understand project requirements and establishing clear deliverables in terms of specification, timescales and costs. Using Prince 2 (or similar) principals and MS Project plan projects from start to finish, identify resource requirements and develop the work plan using the best available methods to ensure a relevant and robust project plan is developed with the appropriate contingencies built in.

Provide the necessary leadership and organisational skills to ensure projects are delivered following timely introduction, in an efficient and effective manner, integrating personnel from different departments and disciplines into an effective and resourceful project team.

Establish milestones and actions, to conduct meetings, give briefings and ensure that focus is maintained on the delivery of agreed actions and resolution of problems

Play a pivotal role in ensuring that effective communications are made between the different functions within the project team and externally with the customer.

Understand cost constraints and financial targets of the project and carry out regular cost reviews and audits to ensure compliance to customer requirements, company procedures, work instructions and quality specifications.

Highlight any cost over runs, investigate causes and initiate corrective actions and to ensure that any amendments to Processes, Procedures and/or Work Instructions are implemented. Responsible for ensuring the project is delivered within the established financial constraints.

The Project Manager will be required to set up effective communication, not only between the internal elements of a project team, but also with both customers and suppliers on a regular basis, in order to 'close the loop' and ensure the delivery of customer contract expectations.

Report on project progress, compile reports and make presentations to the Senior Management Team and to our customer on a regular and consistent basis.

Be actively involved in the resolution of specification, supplier or quality issues within the project and ensure that the quality, cost and delivery requirements of the contract are fully delivered.

Ensure the acceptance within the team of the importance of Continuous Improvement as a key driver of competitive advantage, and contribute towards continuous improvement processes relating to manufacturing, assembly and process development, as well as problem solving.

Must be prepared to travel overseas as well as host incoming visitors for project meetings and FAT.

*Qualified to a minimum of HNC level in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical qualification and have formal training in Project Management ideally Prince 2.

*Full, current UK driving licence.
*Previous experience working within a quality driven engineering/manufacturing and assembly environment, and be conversant with a broad range of engineering processes.
*Knowledge of Prince2 and MS Project and have demonstrated success in project implementation.
*The ability to read, understand and communicate the information presented on engineering documentation, to nclude but not limited to rawings

*Excellent communication skills and should demonstrate significant previous experience in liaising and interacting efficiently with both customers and suppliers, in a professional manner.

*Significant experience of leading projects and managing teams that have required eliciting co-operation from individuals in other departments throughout a business.

*Experience in applying analytical approaches to the resolution of problems, utilising skills such as root cause analysis.

*Familiar with and capable of utilising Microsoft programs with an excellent understanding of MS Project.
