About the Team:
You`ll join a friendly, dynamic and highly motivated Commercial Team that is tasked with a wide range of Commercial and Contract activity, provides critical pro-active and reactive advice to the smart metering programme and also holds responsibility for the formulation and exploitation of future market strategy.
The SMIP Contract Manager is responsible for ensuring the contractual aspects of all SMIP projects are delivered on time and in full. The primary emphasis will be on supporting the contractual change process by providing contractual and commercial input to change requests. The role holder is responsible for ensuring contract compliance, managing commercial risk and being the primary interface to resolve contract and commercial issues.
-Contract Change - Advising, drafting, negotiating and executing the commercial terms of contract changes by working closely with commercial team colleagues, delivery, procurement, finance and legal to achieve commercially robust outcomes.
-Governance - Providing commercial/contracts input in to internal governance forums such as the Change Control Board and Service Management Board and Commercial Committee. Ensuring contractual and commercial considerations are taken on board in all programme decisions
-Contract Compliance and Risk/Opportunity Management - Working closely with the SMIP Head of Contracts to support in ensuring that Telefnica is meeting its contractual obligations and taking remediation action where necessary. Ensuring that the solution itself, critical assumptions, dependencies and risks are identified and documented clearly. Pro-actively monitoring any delays and taking appropriate commercial action to protect Telefonica`s interests. Support in the management of on-contract liabilities and disputes. Working with the programme and finance identify and progressing opportunities to improve the business case
-Contract change management: drafting and negotiating change requests (both low and high value)
-Acting as the contracts` point of contact for internal stakeholders
-Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities in relation to the contracts on a reactive `ad hoc` basis and as part of a programme to establish a pro-active contract risk identification and management
-Supporting other members of the commercial team as required and providing input in support of organisational governance
Skills & experience:
-Previous contract management experience, preferably of large, high value, complex technology contracts (or those with a public sector focus)
-Capable of building strong relationships internally and externally across all levels and functions
-Strong contract drafting skills and track record in contract management within high value and complex environments
-Proven ability to improve commercial drivers (maximising opportunities and minimising risks) and good commercial acumen with the ability to analyse and think strategically
-Self-motivation is key to this role, the individual needs to be well organised and demonstrate tenacity and drive to resolve complex issues in the face of challenges
-Must be able to work comfortably within and bring clarity to uncertain situations
-A team player and with the gravitas to be a driving force for contract management in an organisation where this capability is lacking in maturity
