Contract Manager (Education PFI)

  • Location: Tameside
  • Job Type: 3-month contract.
  • Pay rate: £23.00-£23.67

Reed Secure are working in alignment with a council organisation they are looking for a Contract Manager to oversee and develop the Tameside Schools PFI contracts, ensuring they support improved education attainment and provide value for money. The role involves managing quality service delivery, professional contract, project, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will possess strong managerial, analytical, and communication skills, capable of managing complex relationships within structured contractual processes.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Oversee the delivery of services in line with the Education PFI contracts, ensuring quality and targeted benefits.
  • Monitor and manage compliance and performance with private sector partners, developing plans for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure service providers understand the Council’s requirements and schools’ needs to produce viable service plans.
  • Liaise with schools on all matters related to Education PFI contracts, including performance, maintenance plans, and contract variations.
  • Conduct research, data analysis, and business case development to maintain high performance and compliance.
  • Monitor Education PFI budgets, process unitary charge payments, and apply financial penalties based on performance.
  • Support financial reviews and benchmarking to secure savings and ensure best value.
  • Manage lifecycle maintenance projects and other specific projects as allocated.
  • Develop and manage relationships with partners, including the DfE, to ensure positive and professional contract management.
  • Prepare key documents, including tender specifications, contract documentation, and reports.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • First degree or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
  • Experience managing complex contracts in a political environment.
  • Track record in contract and performance management within the public sector.
  • Experience with PFI contracts and sound contract and project management methodologies.
  • Expertise in auditing, validating, and processing contractual payments.
  • Financial, budget, and performance management skills.
  • Awareness of relevant property legislation and industry good practice.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to engage with a wide variety of audiences.
