An exciting opportunity has arisen for a substantive Consultant Colorectal based at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, with day case and outpatient activities also being scheduled at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, Adamson Hospital, Cupar and St Andrews Community Hospital. The successful applicant will join a busy Surgical Unit consisting of 11 Consultants and will participate in a 1:11 on call rota. There are a good number of Colorectal Cancer resections within the unit. We perform a large number of operations laparoscopically and have an active ERAS programme. The Surgical team display close team working in terms of patient care and provision of all Colorectal Services. Currently we are part of the team providing support along with Gynaec oncologists for patients with advanced ovarian cancers. We would expect applicants to be performing Colonoscopies thereby contributing to the workload of a very busy and active Endoscopy service. The Colorectal team is well supported by a team of nurse specialists, ERAS nurse and Stoma nurses. The department has been a progressive one over the last several years and has an active academic profile. The successful candidates should be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of CST/CESR at the time of interview. NHS Fife has excellent post-graduate libraries and IT facilities and the unit has a proven track record for research and publications. Active post-graduate educational programmes are in place.
