Children's Residential Support Worker- Mathon

We are looking to recruit 2 new team member to complete our staff team.

We currently support 3 girls aged 14 – 17 who present a variety of complex needs.

Salary: £8.00-£8.65 (dependent of experience/qualifications)

Here, you’ll join a strong, supportive team in helping young people with complex needs. It is challenging yet highly rewarding work where the little things, you do every day, will have life-changing results.

You must be over 21 years of age and hold a full UK driving licence.

Located in Mathon the site is a 3 bedroom complex care home (3 beds for the children and 1 staff sleep room) Perrymill is in a rural location, although not isolated. It is situated in the secluded village of Mathon. Malvern is approximately five miles away.

Malvern has access to all amenities inclusive of a theatre, high street shops and a swimming pool. The neighbouring cities are Worcester and Hereford and easily accessible via a thirty minute car journey. Perrymill sits on the border of these two cities but falls under the Herefordshire Local Authority. There is a train station which is walkable from Perrymill. The train line runs to Birmingham from this station every thirty minutes.

Types of duties
These can be varied but are all centered on the young person and can include:

- Providing encouragement when getting ready for school
- Transportation (Use of Company Car)
- Care Planning
- Meal Planning
- Organising and facilitating social activities (outside of school)
- Maintaining the home (cleaning, laundry and shopping etc.)
- Home management
- Liaising with external stakeholders and our own multi-disciplinary team

The day can be very unpredictable and quite easily you could spend the entire afternoon providing 1:1 support managing extremely challenging behavior, the right type of person needs to be flexible, adaptable and able to read situations and help our young people make positive choices.

Shift patterns – what a typical 2 week rota could look like
Week 1
Monday – 10:00 – 23:00
Tuesday – Day off
Wednesday – Day off
Thursday - 07.30 – 23.00 & Sleep In
Friday – 07:30 – 10:30am
Saturday – Day off
Sunday - 10:00 – 23:00

Week 2
Monday – 10:00 – 23:00
Tuesday – Day off
Wednesday – Day off
Thursday – 07.30 – 23.00 & - Sleep In
Friday – 07:30 – 10:30am
Saturday – Day off
Sunday – 10:00 – 23:00

You will need the following skills/qualifications:

- A passion for working with children
- At least one year’s experience in Children’s Residential Care
- Excellent communication skills and a good team player
- Engaging
- Strong determination to succeed
- Effective leadership and Management
- A willingness to learn

You will be expected to have a level 3 diploma in Health & Social care or committed to passing this once you have completed your probationary period.
