Children's Residential Support Worker - Dudley

Are you a Residential Care Worker with at least 18 months experience working with young people who have complex needs?

Would you like to join our committed and developing team located in Dudley?

We are looking to recruit up to 1 new team member to complete our staff team. We support 2 boys aged 15 who present a variety of complex needs but will be looking to expand to 4 children in the near future.

Salary: £7.65-£8.30 (dependent of experience/qualifications)

You must be over 21 years of age and hold a full UK driving licence.

Located in Dudley the site is a very large 4 bedroom home which includes a flat attached to it. The house is spacious and team believes it has a family and homely feel.

This home is a lot larger than other Cambian homes and has a train station 10 minute walk away to get back to the city Centre, we also have the main bus station located close by.

Types of duties
These can be varied but are all centered on the young person and can include:

- Providing encouragement when getting ready for school
- Transportation (Use of Company Car)
- Care Planning
- Meal Planning
- Organising and facilitating social activities (outside of school)
- Maintaining the home (cleaning, laundry and shopping etc.)
- Home management
- Liaising with external stakeholders and our own multi-disciplinary team

The day can be very unpredictable and quite easily you could spend the entire afternoon providing 1:1 support managing extremely challenging behavior, the right type of person needs to be flexible, adaptable and able to read situations and help our young people make positive choices.

Shift patterns – what a typical 2 week rota could look like
Week 1
Monday – Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & Sleep In
Tuesday – Day off
Wednesday – Day off
Thursday - Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & Sleep In
Friday – Day off
Saturday – Day off
Sunday - Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & - Sleep In

Week 2
Monday – Day off
Tuesday – Day off
Wednesday - Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & - Sleep In
Thursday – Day off
Friday – Day off
Saturday - Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & - Sleep In
Sunday – Day off

On rare occasions, we work a late sleep which starts from 3pm–11pm plus a sleep.

These patterns repeat and it is really important to note that on your shift you will be 24 hours within the home. There is some flexibility of working and our manager knows how important a good work life balance is for her team.

You will need the following skills/qualifications:

- A passion for working with children
- At least one year’s experience in Children’s Residential Care
- Excellent communication skills and a good team player
- Engaging
- Strong determination to succeed
- Effective leadership and Management
- A willingness to learn

You will be expected to have a level 3 diploma in Health & Social care or committed to passing this once you have completed your probationary period.
