Calling all Male Children Residential Support Workers!
Reed Health and Care are excited to bring the role of Residential Support Worker / Residential Care Worker for our client to the market. Our client is a provider of residential childcare services in the North East of England. They are looking to grow their team and have multiple positions available.
Role: Male Children Residential Support Worker / Residential Care Worker
Location: Barnard Castle or Staindrop
Pay: £11.00 - £17.95 per hour (dependant on experience)
Contract and Hours: Permanent - Full Time
Reporting the registered manager, the successful candidate will actively promote the rights of young people as individuals and provide them with quality care in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organisation and regulators.
Some of the key tasks you will undertake:
- Promote a positive and healthy lifestyle for each young person
- Attend to the physical needs of the young person
- Protect the young person from harm and follow safeguarding guidelines
- Act as a positive role model
- Work as part of a team and be involved in handovers and regular staff meetings
- Keep records up to date and complete care notes and financial transaction sheets
Due to the needs of the service, this post requires the successful candidate to be a male. This is because of the individual you will be supporting if you are successful in this role.
In return for your hard work, the successful candidate will receive:
- Hourly rate between £11.00 and £17.95 per hour dependant on experience

- Fully funded recognised Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People
To be successful in securing this role, you must:
- A minimum of GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Have a Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Possess or be willing to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce
- Good knowledge of IT and MS Office Apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Have at least 6 months experience within the last 3 years of working with children or young people
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Emotionally resilient, reliable, and professional
The successful candidate will be required to complete a full DBS check and register for the update service. Reference checks will be completed prior to employment star and employment will be subject to 6 month probation period.
