As part of the continued expansion of our Total waste management services, we are seeking an HNC qualified ( minimum) chemist to join our team - working across our Darlington / Hartlepool depots .

This role would suit someone with hazardous waste experience .

As part of the hazardous waste team - you will play a central role in the safe supervision of incoming and outgoing waste - and provide technical support to the rest of the business.

All of our team at Total Recycling Services, adopt a flexible attitude to work - to accomplish Company and Customer requirements and goals. In that respect, you will need to be willing to contribute wherever required , including site visits, customer meetings, supporting our Industrial Service and Transport teams with advice - and carrying out chem-pack and listing work wherever required .

Your day to day base will be our Darlington HQ and Hartlepool treatment plant.

Our Darlington transfer station offers year round indoor working conditions , and where you will be :

  • Advising the technical assessment and sales team where required
  • Overseeing the receipt and dispatch of wastes and ensuring the high standards of our duty of care regime are maintained
  • Sampling and assessing all wastes as required by our permit and associated guidance
  • Supervising staff and advising on all aspects of operation in the transfer station
  • Managing and undertaking the processing of lab smalls and difficult wastes
  • Working with the SHE Manager and Operations Director to ensure all operations are carried out with the highest regard to Health , Safety and Environment.

Requirements

Here's what we require:

  • Experience as a Chemist in a Hazardous Waste Management business or chemical/manufacturing industry would be desirable but not essential
  • Minimum of a HNC Chemistry Qualification.
  • Hazardous Treatment & Transfer CoTC is desirable however not essential.
  • IT literate - Using MS Office
  • Knowledge & understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical hazardous waste processing environment would be ideal.
  • Understanding of chemical process safety
