Purpose of Role:

The role will support the Central Staffing Manager and clinical and operational management teams to plan and deliver required nursing staffing levels, in line with clinical needs and operational budgets.

The role will ensure effective, efficient and quality services are provided to temporary workers (Bank and Agency), and operational teams

To monitor Bank and Agency worker performance; responding to complaints, carry out initial fact finding and undertake HR processes as required.

Ensuring correct rostering procedures are consistently adhered to, identifying and influencing improvements in processes and systems that improve the utilisation of temporary staffing.

The role will provide administration to Bank workers, ensuring they remain compliant with mandatory training and provide reliable service and quality care to patients, whilst proactively filling shifts within approved clinical and operational requirements, through the effective and efficient deployment of temporary staffing; including, Bank workers, agency workers and permanent staff with a Bank assignment. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships and communication with ward managers and operational teams.
  • Identify clinical shifts to be filled across the Northampton site and work proactively to fill these with the most appropriate,?cost-effective?shifts.?
  • Process shift bookings, cancellations and amendments received by email, telephone or Employee Online/LOOP, in an accurate, courteous and timely manner.
  • Monitor Allocate data for any agency booked, to ensure attendance is confirmed and pay/timecards are administered correctly    
  • Undertake HR processes in response to quality, performance or conduct concerns
  • Plan and coordinate Bank staff mandatory training in line with individual training expiry dates, ensuring Bank workers remain compliant, applying booking restrictions where appropriate 
  • Daily finalisation checks, ensuring e-rostering processes are adhered to and Bank workers shifts are finalised
  • Provide data and KPI information
  • Provide supervision and support to the coordinators
  • Process recruitment activity, including external recruitment and transfers from permanent employees, ensuring recruited establishment is within required numbers
  • Hosting training sessions for Bank workers
  • Publish divisional Bank shifts in-line with roster approval timeline
  • Investigate pay queries
  • Rollout of new Allocate systems and functions, including communication and engagement tools
  • Induction, meet & greet, and on boarding of new bank workers
  • Be a part of the team rota covering weekdays and weekends. Contributing equally and flexibly to cover any unexpected weekend absence. A minimum of 1 in 6 weekends working, with the requirement to work more if needed to meet the needs of the service and provide cross cover to colleagues

About you

You will have the ability to use initiative, problem solve, work autonomously and plan, organise and prioritise own work. You will have the ability to establish credible and influential relationships with key internal customers including senior managers with excellent attention to detail.

Good IT skills is essential with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems along with excellent written and inter-personal communication, negotiation and the ability to multitask, manage an unpredictable workload/ conflicting priorities

You will also have the ability to handle and interpret high volume complex data to improve and optimise staff utilisation Knowledge of the e-rostering system and processes
