As a Buyer and Production Planner you will be responsible for a small team and oversee the purchase of goods, raw materials and equipment whilst also supporting the operation of the manufacturing schedules.
You will liaise closely with the Production Manager and the rest of the Supply Chain and the Commercial Team for optimal production and supply schedules. You will serve as the primary point of contact for and liaison with Sales, Logistics and Manufacturing Departments. You will maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers for future products. You will process requisitions and update management on the status of orders, liaising with other department to ensure projects are completed.

Specific Role Responsibilities

As a Buyer and Production Planner, you will be working Monday to Friday, to:

Researching new markets, products and manufacturing processes
Identifying quality standards and ensuring that all products meet those standards
Negotiating with suppliers to agree prices, quantities, delivery schedules and exclusivity deals
Working with inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products
Delivering reports on sales data, marketing activity and other metrics to the senior management team and other stakeholders, including KPIs
Conducting competitor research
Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
Set production plans and challenge production on the adherence to plan
Collaborate with relevant departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs
Periodically compare current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; use judgement to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional supplies as needed
Manage the Runners, Repeaters and Strangers analysis and process
Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinate availability of raw materials, supplies equipment and staff as needed to meet delivery dates
Drive production to meet run at rates to ensure customer satisfaction
Report and graph production throughput, scrap & plan adherence
Produce weekly management reports
Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules
Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
Conduct research for new components and suppliers
Work with suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
Look to drive a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation, with an emphasis on embracing technology to maximise efficiency

Relevant experience in a similar role
Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Thorough understanding of supply chain
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Extremely proficient with production planning systems
Ability to be flexible, be readily adaptable and work in a rapidly and constantly changing environment
Excellent team player but also self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
Knowledge of import/export and post Brexit requirements
Financial and accounting knowledge for calculating margins, gross profit and discounts
Keen attention to detail and accuracy
An understanding of Supply Chain Management & Logistics
Excellent attention to detail and high standards for quality control
Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £43,000.00-£46,000.00 per year

Day shift: Monday to Friday
