Right Now Group are seeking an experienced and dedicated Business Development Manager (Outside Sales) to work for a top 25 global freight forwarding company, based in Manchester & London. Operating from the Manchester office, the ideal candidate would be an experienced Sales/Business Development professional with a proven track record of securing and developing new business within the Freight and Logistics sector predominately dealing with Sea freight and/or Air Freight consignments.

Duties and responsibilities of a Business Development Manager

  • To build and develop your sales pipeline with new and existing accounts, ideally direct from manufacturer.
  • Achieve financial targets set by the business, delivering new air and ocean freight business.
  • Completing spot and regular quotations for new & existing business, supporting wider sales functions.
  • Arrange and attend client visits both remotely and in person.
  • Actively engage customers with a consultative sales approach provide mutually beneficial and positive customer experiences.
  • Work closely with procurement, operations, and accounts to deliver favourable results.
  • Record and track lapsed client activity and proactively seek to convert back to active clients.
  • Ensure client contact details are up to date using CRM system.


The successful Business Development Manager

  • Minimum 3 years of experience within Freight Forwarding in Air & Ocean logistics.
  • Strong sales & customer service skills who can effectively interact with people across cultures and countries.
  • Display a hungry and flexible attitude, a consistent new business winner.
  • Knowledge of supplier service offerings and changes in market conditions.
  • Exposure to Cargowise One (Beneficial)
  • An existing book of business/contacts would be highly beneficial.


Additional information for Business Development Manager:

  • Shift: Monday - Friday (Office/Field/Home)
  • Hours: 09:00 - 17:30
  • Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 (Negotiable)
  • Car Allowance: £6,000 per annum
  • Bonus Structure: OTE Up to £75k
