An exciting opportunity awaits for a Building Surveyor to join our exceptional team in Greater Manchester at Great Places Housing Group. Join us in this vital role where you will take the lead on inspection of properties, identifying and addressing building defects and legal disrepairs with precision. As a key player in our team, you will produce detailed technical reports and specifications, and oversee contract work ensuring excellent execution.

Your expertise will ensure that every home meets the Decent Homes Standards, while actively mitigating risks linked to the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and the Fit For Human Habitation Bill. What you will be doing as a Building Surveyor…

As a Building Surveyor, you will delve into comprehensive property surveys and inspections, focusing on identifying building defects and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Your responsibilities will not only include examining the physical conditions of properties but also preparing schedules and detailed specifications that outline the necessary interventions.

Central to your role will be project and contract management, where you'll oversee the entire lifecycle of property maintenance and repair projects, from inception through completion. This will involve tendering and procurement processes to select and engage with suitable contractors, ensuring that all services and works are carried out efficiently and to the highest standards.

Additionally, you will be responsible for the compilation of legal documentation that supports the contractual and regulatory framework of your projects. Creating impactful reports and presentations will also be a key aspect of your role, enabling clear communication of findings, recommendations, and project statuses to internal teams and external stakeholders.

We offer a competitive salary of £41,182 - £43,241 per annum based on a 35 hour week, starting with 26 days annual leave increasing up to 30 days within 5 years, plus bank holidays!

What will you need?

  • A relevant building surveying qualification to a minimum HNC/HND level and experience of building surveying in the social or private housing sector.
  • A full clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Customer focused, ensuring we deliver the very best for our customers in terms of service delivery and product quality.
  • Proactivity and solution focused approach! The service is continuously evolving and you will be an important part of moving this forward.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to execute tasks with precision and timeliness, even when navigating high-pressure environments.
