Teaching Assistant (BSL Trained Level 2)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Full-Time Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) training to join our team as soon as possible. The successful candidate will work closely with a Year 5 pupil, providing tailored support to enable them to fully participate in all aspects of the school day.

The teaching assistant will provide one-on-one support to a Year 5 pupil, assisting with communication and understanding using British Sign Language. You will collaborate with the class teacher to adapt lesson materials and activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil, and facilitate the pupil's integration into group activities, ensuring they are fully included and supported. You will be required to monitor the pupil's progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) as needed. Overall, you need to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.

The ideal candidate will:

- Fluent in British Sign Language (BSL), with relevant training and certification.

- Experience working with children, preferably within a SEN/ Mainstream school setting.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with diverse needs.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the pupil and the school.

-Ability to observe and assess progress and areas of improvement using the National Curriculum.

Requirements:

· Level 2 British Sign Language trained/ or equivalent – this is essential

· DBS on the update service or issued in the last 12 months.

· 6+ months experience supporting BSL student.

· Safeguarding trained (we offer free CPD)

· Prevent trained (we offer free CPD)

· FGM trained (we offer free CPD)
