As a Behaviour Mentor in a Primary School working with Year 5 students in Nottingham, your role is crucial in supporting the social and emotional well-being of students, as well as fostering a positive learning environment. Here are some key responsibilities and strategies you might consider:

Responsibilities:
  1. Individualised Support:

    • Identify students who may need additional support due to behavioural challenges.
    • Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to gather information about students' behaviour.
  2. Behavioural Interventions:

    • Develop and implement individualised behaviour plans for students with specific needs.
    • Collaborate with teachers to integrate behaviour support strategies into the classroom.
  3. Crisis Management:

    • Be prepared to handle crisis situations effectively, maintaining the safety of students and staff.
    • Collaborate with the school's leadership team and other support staff to address critical incidents.
  4. Group Work:

    • Conduct group sessions to address common behavioural issues or social skills development.
    • Foster a sense of community and cooperation among students.
  5. Communication:

    • Regularly communicate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders regarding students' progress and challenges.
    • Provide feedback on behaviour improvement and celebrate successes.
  6. Data Collection and Monitoring:

    • Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make adjustments as needed.
