Azure 3rd Line Engineer (SME)

Milton Keynes

£60,000 - £70,000 + bonus + perm benefits

A global leading organisation is looking to add a valued member to their infrastructure team with an Azure 3rd line Engineer who will be an SME within all Azure based technologies. The successful Azure SME engineer will takes responsibility for the design, procurement, installation, upgrading, operation, control, maintenance (including storage, modification and communication of data, voice, text, audio and images) and effective use of IT infrastructure components and monitors their performance. Alongside this you will provide technical management of an IT operation, ensuring that agreed service levels are met and all relevant policies and procedures are adhered to.

Required Skills.

  • Azure Core Services: Understanding of core services like Azure Virtual Machines, Azure App Services, Azure Storage, and Azure SQL Database.
  • Networking: Knowledge of Azure networking solutions such as Virtual Networks, VPNs, ExpressRoute, Load Balancers, and Network Security Groups.
  • Security: Familiarity with Azure security tools and features like Azure Active Directory, Network Security Groups, Azure Firewall, and knowledge of security best practices.
  • Identity Management: Experience with managing identities using Azure Active Directory, including single sign-on (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and identity protection.
  • Compliance and Governance: Understanding of compliance standards relevant to Azure and the ability to use tools like Azure Policy, Blueprints, and Azure Monitor to ensure compliance.
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Azure CLI for automation of Azure resources management.
  • Monitoring and Diagnostics: Experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics for monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting.
  • Cost Management: Skills in managing and optimising Azure costs using tools like Azure Cost Management and Azure Advisor.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Knowledge of Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, and strategies for ensuring business continuity.
  • Hybrid Cloud Integration: Understanding of integrating on-premises environments with Azure using technologies like Azure Arc and Azure Stack.
