Automation Engineer - Sheffield

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a market-leading business specialising in developing and integrating digital transformation solutions to recruit an Automation Engineer to join their site in Sheffield.

The Automation Engineer will work in a team to design, build, test and implement industrial control systems (both hardware and software), utilising Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs, HMIs and SCADA. 

Our client is looking for an Automation Engineer  with experience in a structured project delivery lifecycle and Proficient in the generation of formal technical documentation for the full life cycle of projects

Duties of the Automation Engineer include:

• Design, development, programming and testing of mission-critical innovative solutions 
• Work as a key team member resolving hardware and software challenges 
• Design and configuration of cyber-secure infrastructure and communications between solution components 
• Develop a thorough understanding of operational procedures and ensure compliance with both internal and external standards
• Assembly supervision and electrical testing of solution hardware 
• Installation and commissioning of solutions on customer sites
• Provide support and mentoring for more junior engineers

We are keen to speak to Automation Engineer with the following skills and experience 

• Electrical & Electronic or Electrical or Software Engineering degree 
• Five or more years experience of in control system project delivery
• Basic understanding of electrical system drawings, including GA’s, Wiring Schematics and Termination Diagrams
• Good fundamental electrical knowledge and ability to understand/interpret system drawings
• Sound grasp of general IT/OT Technologies and development methodologies
• Knowledge of Windows Operating System configuration and lockdown
• Knowledge of network switch and firewall configuration and network management packages
• Experience with Siemens range of PLCs/HMIs / DCS / Drives
