Due to new sites starting, we're looking to expand our commercial team, so we are excited to share that we have a great opportunity for an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the business. Watkin Jones can offer you professional mentoring from members of the commercial team, and hands on, practical experience working for one of UK’s most successful construction and development companies. This is a challenging role where you’ll initially be working on our purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development in London. 

We look for our Assistant Quantity Surveyors to work autonomously and take responsibility for measuring the materials/quantities required by analysing drawings and liaising with the sub-contractors for quotations so ideally, to manage the level of responsibility in this role you'll need two plus years’ experience within Quantity Surveying. As part of this exciting role, you’ll be involved with comparing different prices from different costs and will prepare sub-contract orders for approval by the Quantity Surveyor as well as preparing sub-contract payments for current contracts. 

The role is based at our office in Soho Square, London, however, to offer you the right level of experience and so your skills can develop, there will be time spent on site and this may, depending on location include overnight stays.

About You

We're looking for someone with a level 4 qualification in a relevant / related field, (the first year of a bachelor’s degree, or a foundation degree / HNC or HND) and is passionate about a career within Quantity Surveying. You'll need to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and have a strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is also a must.

This role will suit an ambitious person with long term goals in the field of quantity surveying, helping to help take the organisation to the next phase of its evolution.
