Assistant Loans Administrator / Underwriter
Telford, in-person
Part-time, permanent, 21 hours per week (some flexibility available), 3x 7-hour shifts
£13.30 per hour (£26,000 FTE) + 37 days holiday including bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time hours) + Christmas bonus + NEST pension scheme

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and driven Loan Underwriter to join a well-established community organisation.
Our client is a not-for-profit financial institution, whose goal is to give back to the local community by providing ethical finance to those in need. Established for almost 30 years, they serve people who live in the area between Birmingham & the Welsh border.

They’re looking for an Assistant Loans Administrator / Underwriter who ideally has experience underwriting loans but failing that who at least has wider underwriting experience. This role will involve all aspects of manually underwriting loans and will also involve the administration of all things surrounding loans, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make their own impact and be a key player of the small team at this ethical organisation.

The role
Day-to-day responsibilities
· Looking out for members’ needs and for vulnerability
· Championing daily loans-related administration tasks using IT skills & MS Excel proficiency
· Administration and underwriting of personal loans using a process that is partially manual and partially automatic

The Person
Essential
· Loans administration and/or underwriting experience
· Great communication skills
· IT literate including MS Excel
· Patience and understanding, particularly around dealing with potentially vulnerable people
· A good level of common sense, intuition, proactivity, and the ability to independently solve problems

Nice-to-have
· Financial services experience
· Ethical finance experience
· Other not-for-profit experience
