Area Sales Manager

Our client is a manufacturer of workplace furniture. They are looking to employ an Area Sales Manager in Scotland and Ireland to develop their existing client relationships within the sales area to the next level.

Job Summary:

This role will be purely targeting office furniture Dealers and D+B companies within Scotland and Ireland, who will then be looking to resell the company portfolio.

  • The role will primarily be based from a home office, travelling throughout Scotland and Ireland, visiting Dealers
  • Market and sell products according to the company’s business plan
  • Ensure that the area runs according to the company’s business plan, policy and budget
  • Suggest and implement activity plans for Dealers in the area to enhance sales
  • Use allocated budget in the most effective way for activities such as campaigns, educational days etc
  • Ensure that all market material available is used and distributed as intended, and documented in CRM
  • Actively work and promote the company with Dealers, through joint meetings with end users and other related activities, targeting Facilities Managers & Project Managers
  • Responsibility so that any sales strategies and plans that are established within the company are implemented and executed in the area
  • Phone work - following up contacts and projects, and booking in future face to face presentations / appointments
  • Regularly report on any market developments and activities done within the area (mainly through the company’s CRM system)
  • Ensure your work load is planned in such a way as to achieve a high level of productivity and cost efficiency

Candidate Profile:

  • The successful candidate must have a track record of at least 2-3 years of growing sales in the Scottish & Irish workplace interiors / fitout market
  • Sound industry knowledge along with the ability to demonstrate market awareness an advantage
  • Accurate and concise in both oral and written English language along with strong IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel/PP etc
  • Experience of working with CRM systems an advantage
  • Proven ability to negotiate on a director level
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload along with a commitment to quality and customer focus
  • Proven networking capabilities
  • Flexible and willing to travel


  • Basic salary of £40,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)
