Cyber Security Apprentice

Location: Burnley Area (flexible working after probation in line with company policy)

Salary: Apprentice Wage

Join our clients company and embark on an exciting journey to kickstart or advance your career in IT as a Cyber Security Technician. In this role, you will play a crucial part in safeguarding the information and systems of the company and its clients, aligning with business needs and upholding Information Security principles. Gain valuable experience in detecting network security breaches, delivering 1st and 2nd line support solutions, and collecting information for escalation to incident response teams or other specified functions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Monitor company and client networks for malicious activity.
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support for security incidents as an integral member of the Seriun cyber team.
  • Respond to and investigate alerts, contribute to developing new security monitoring use cases, and ensure proper documentation of investigative activities in ticketing systems, followed up with relevant support teams.
  • Monitor open-source intelligence sources for potential threats against the company and its clients, taking appropriate defensive actions.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans on customer network infrastructures, interpret results, and collaborate with relevant support teams to address issues.
  • Support projects within the Information Security function.
  • Contribute to Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus projects.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: GCSE or equivalent in English (Grades A*- C / 9-4)
  • Essential: GCSE or equivalent in Maths (Grades A*- C / 9-4)

  • Strong eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent time management skills for flexible and pressure-filled work environments.
  • Effective communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and seek guidance when needed.
  • Demonstrated interest and proficiency in IT (through education or self-tuition).
  • Fault-finding/troubleshooting ability.
  • Understanding of IT network features and functions.
  • Knowledge of basic security concepts and security technologies.
