Allocations Officer

  • Job Type: Full-time, 5-month temporary position
  • Salary: £12.00-£13.59

We are seeking an Allocations Officer to join a dedicated team within a local authority orgamsiation’s Homelessness Services. The role holder will be instrumental in coordinating and developing plans to increase independence and raise aspirations for service users, ensuring they can access suitable temporary accommodation and community services.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Provide intensive support for customers with complex needs, creating holistic support plans that set individual targets towards longer-term solutions.
  • Assist customers in identifying realistic goals, ensuring full commitment and agreement from all parties to achieve identified targets.
  • Adopt a person-centred, flexible approach when working with service users and their families to develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate records and collect data to evidence performance and ensure the achievement of internal and external targets.
  • May include management duties, such as direct line management or matrix management of a team, including appraisals and performance management.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with service users and stakeholders, ensuring successful outcomes and responsive service to user needs.
  • Identify and secure properties for homeless households, negotiating with landlords/agents to procure properties on the best available terms.
  • Inspect properties to required standards and liaise with providers, owners, and agents to ensure sustainable tenancies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proven planning and organising skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Creative thinking with innovative problem-solving abilities.
  • Decision-making skills with sound judgment for escalating issues when necessary.
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy for administrative tasks.
  • Proficient IT skills to use ICT systems for data analysis and presentation.
  • Enhanced DBS disclosure check.
  • Consent to a BPSS check.
  • Consent to a DBS check.
