My client seeking a highly skilled Accounts Payable Assistant to join our finance department. This role is crucial for supporting the company’s rapid growth by ensuring the efficient processing of the Accounts Payable function and related financial transactions. The ideal candidate will be a high calibre individual with a proven track record in a similar high-volume, transactional role.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Process the Accounts Payable function efficiently, handling all related outflows of the business.
  • Support the AP Manager in improving the efficiency of the AP cycle.
  • Monitor the Accounts Payable mailbox, ensuring supplier documents are posted and coded correctly.
  • Prepare weekly supplier and employee expense payment runs.
  • Manage and follow up on approvals with the designated approver.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and investigate any anomalies immediately.
  • Process and accurately reflect Standing Order and Direct Debit payments in the ledgers.
  • Conduct month-end reviews of the Creditors ledger, reporting and providing commentary on supplier debit balances.
  • Maintain supplier master data and ensure debit balances are resolved within four weeks.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve invoicing or payment queries.
  • Handle external and internal queries via phone and email, including escalations across all entities.
  • Assist with AR reconciliations during peak periods and perform any other ad-hoc duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of general accounting procedures.
  • Previous experience in Accounts Payable processing in a fast-paced, high-volume transactional role.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Ability to drive system improvements within the AP process.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to actively listen and relay information clearly.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and work well in a team.
  • Capability to collaborate with others and work to deadlines.
