Desian Education are supporting local Sefton secondary schools with candidates who are able to cover classes in the absence of the permanent class teacher. We are seeking confident, reliable, and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about education and keen to make a positive impact in the classroom.

As a part of this role you will manage a classroom during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain on task and that the learning environment is safe, productive, and respectful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-set lesson plans and maintain classroom discipline.

  • Supervise students in the absence of a teacher across a range of subjects.

  • Ensure students complete their work to the best of their ability.

  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.

  • Provide feedback to teachers about student progress and any issues that arise during cover lessons.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with young people (ideally in a school setting).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Confidence in managing classroom behaviour effectively.

  • A flexible, proactive approach to work.

  • A degree or equivalent qualification (desirable but not essential).

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
