Following the recent appointment of a new Head of Faculty, who is already making significant progress in improving outcomes in science, an excellent opportunity has arisen to further support the Science Faculty at Unity Academy Blackpool as a 2nd in Faculty. This new and additional post will further strengthen the Science leadership team which consists of the FCAT director of science, Head of Faculty and 2nd in Faculty. Science is on an upwards trajectory of improvement at Unity Academy and the addition of an additional 2nd in Faculty will further support this drive for improvement. The successful applicant will work alongside the Head of Faculty and existing 2nd in Faculty in the operational and strategic leadership of the faculty. We are seeking a 2nd in Faculty with the energy and enthusiasm to inspire and develop students and staff in our popular and thriving school, ensuring that outcomes and standards of teaching rapidly improve within the science subjects. Unity Academy was proud to be judged 'Good' in all areas by OfSTED in October 2017, a result which represents the hard work and team ethos within the academy.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability in teaching their subject and improving outcomes for young people, this post would suit someone looking for their first step into middle leadership and full support will be provided, including support to access the NPQML, this will ensure that we continue to provide high quality education for all our children in a caring, inclusive environment.

We would welcome applications from those who are looking for a challenge and have a proven track record in delivering excellent classroom practice, a full and comprehensive package of training, mentoring and coaching will be provided. As an all through school, whilst an awareness of key stage 1 and 2 science curricula is required, this posts is focussed on subject leadership in key stages 3 and 4. This post represents an excellent professional development opportunity for any aspiring middle leaders who want to be part of our journey towards becoming outstanding.
