Summary of Role: As an Equipment Shift Manager you will be playing a pivotal role within the operations of the company and be responsible for, but not limited to: Leading by example, positively drive effective, efficient and professional communications at all times. Encourage an ethos of continual improvement and development of the departments. Act as the linchpin between the equipment control team and equipment departments to ensure daily workload requirements are actioned in line with correct standards and deadlines are adhered to. Complete frequent and thorough walk rounds/check ins with both the equipment department and equipment control teams to ensure requirements are communicated and actioned effectively and any issues are resolved at first line level or escalated through the correct channels. Ensure shortage reporting is actioned and communicated by the departments in a timely Asset Management &amp; Storage: Ensure departmental returns areas are controlled effectively by the Department Supervisors to ensure smooth flow of equipment around the departments. In conjunction with the Equipment Manager, liaising with the returns team and Department Supervisors to ensure bottlenecks and overflow of returning stock is processed to offsite overflow facilities efficiently and tracked accurately on RTPro. Ensure any highlighted inventory anomalies are resolved and/or thoroughly investigated at the departmental level, escalating any continued anomalies to the Equipment Manager. In conjunction with the Equipment Manager, looking for continual improvement in terms of departmental changes and storage solutions for the equipment. In conjunction with the Equipment Manager, to assist the Equipment Supervisors to continuously develop the storage solutions to improve asset management and controls. To immediately escalate any areas of concern relating to inventory and asset control to the Senior Operational Management team. Essential Skills: First line management skills, including personnel management, conflict resolution, effective communications &amp; training/development experience. Must be IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft office software. Good understanding of operating systems such as RT Pro inventory tracking system, Microsoft Teams. Very good communication skills. Adaptable to a fast-paced environment with the highest expectations of service and quality. Committed to continual improvement and development. Flexible to work overtime and occasional weekends as the needs to the business require.

Equipment Shift Manager

Equipment Technicians are responsible for the preparation, maintenance and testing of lighting, rigging and other supporting MBSE rental assets, ensuring the highest quality standards for each type of equipment prior to rental. Equipment Technicians are also required to carry out all functions related to the accurate handling and storage of equipment as well as specified first line repairs. Duties include, but are not limited to: Portable appliance testing (PAT) of all portable electrical equipment. Ensure all shortages are passed to equipment coordinators as soon as possible. Ensuring all electrical and/or mechanical function tests are performed on all rental assets upon return from hire as per procedures. Ensuring all items are at all times correctly tracked on the inventory management system and in the correct physical location. Ensuring all equipment pulled for dispatch is routed to the correct bay at the correct time as per Equipment Coordinator’s and operational Manager’s requests. Minor maintenance of equipment as per procedures. Reporting of damages to the relevant Department Supervisor so that the repair procedure is instigated. Proactively drive pace of testing to ensure sufficient assets are maintained at a &quot;ready to rent&quot; status at all times. In certain departments, liaison with external cleaning and repair contractors, including checking items in and out of the repair ticket system. Supervision of trainee technicians and apprentices to ensure safety and quality is maintained during periods of training/familiarisation . Responsible for keeping workstation and department areas clean and tidy. Liaison and tasking as required with/by Department Supervisors, Equipment Manager and inventory teams and to ensure correct stock levels are maintained. Liaison and tasking as required with/by other members of operational staff and management to meet the needs of the business. Asset Management, Storage &amp; Quality Control: Ensure all equipment is handled safely and efficiently at all times. Ensure all equipment is prepared and tested in line with company procedures and policies, as well as any relevant legislation. To immediately escalate any areas of concern relating to inventory and asset control to the Department Supervisor. Positively strive to achieve and sustain the highest standards of service levels in relation to quality of equipment and service delivery. To complete and ensure all company procedures are followed in relation to QC checks and scanning controls. Health &amp; Safety: At all times demonstrate a commitment to achieving a culture of safety. To ensure all health and safety policies are followed, including manual handling, use of mechanical handling equipment and safe storage of equipment. At all times maintain clear pedestrian and evacuation routes through the warehouse and external areas. To also prevent any stored equipment or handling equipment from presenting a hazard. Escalate areas of concern through the correct channels. Essential Skills: Driven to achieve and maintain the highest quality and service standards. Must be IT literate with the ability to learn in house asset management systems. Demonstrating a positive approach to the company whilst reacting to the high demands of the business. Key Duties Plan and manage daily transport operations from account handler, client and internal department requirements Plan personnel allocation in each department, ensuring sufficient cover is in place depending on current workload. Assisting in planning training and assessment for warehouse departmental staff. Pro-actively keep open contacts with rigging Gaffers and best boys to fill in information gaps around scheduling and recording in the system. Ensure the leased fleet of vans is managed and serviced according to need and contract. Communicate with the returns department to organise off loads, refuelling of generators and vehicle returns. Working with the returns department to prioritise labour, space and truck allocations. Manage the various operational departments within the branch. Take primary responsibility for briefing drivers and ensuring standards, are communicated, such as load security and customer/supplier paperwork. Liaise with shipping co-ordinator re international freight movements. Work with department technicians and supervisors to predict workload, and plan around absence and holiday cover. To take part/assist in return-to-work interviews and absent management procedures. To escalate potential breaches of conduct and areas of concern to the Head of Lighting. Conducting investigations and disciplinaries within Company policy, with assistance from the HR department. Communicating and enforcing rules and procedures around the warehouse, escalating issues when standards are not met. Verifying and signing off staff and agency time sheets in conjunction with the Finance team. Carrying out new starter inductions. Managing and recording the issue of PPE. Working with the Operations Director to organise health and safety related training and competence assessments. Conducting regular workplace inspections. Recording transport and personnel bookings for financial records. Co-ordinating warehouse stock transfers with other branches. ? Person Specification Industry experience preferred, in film and television lighting rental and sales. Previous warehouse management experience is essential. Strong people management experience (performance, absence, conduct etc). Enthusiastic and highly motivated, with a strong business acumen and attention to detail. Ability to work well under pressure, both individually and as part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong track record of building and managing Teams. Technical understanding of lighting equipment and an interest in film production techniques. A good knowledge of Microsoft Office. Willingness to go above and beyond to get the job done.
