The Binding Site Group (TBSG) headquartered in Birmingham, UK specialises in the research, development, manufacture and sale of innovative medical diagnostic products, instrumentation and materials focused on Multiple Myeloma and other Immune system disorders. With over 25 years of expertise in antibody specificity technology, The Binding Site Group provides clinicians and laboratory staff with the tools to improve the diagnosis and management of patients across a range of immune system disorders.


The Company’s origins date back to a group of researchers from the Medical School of Birmingham University who first started looking at innovative ways of producing antibodies in the early 1970's. Today the Company is over 700 employees in the UK, over 1,000 globally and services over 3,000 customers in over 80 countries.


TBS currently has direct sales operations in the USA and UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic and Benelux with remaining markets being served through an extensive network of distributors covering the rest of Europe, Asia and Latin America. Recently TBS has opened offices in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Eastern Europe and Brazil. The Company’s assays are approved for sale in over 80 countries worldwide including being CE marked in Europe and FDA approved in the USA.

The main site in Birmingham acts as the global headquarters and this includes; research and product development, manufacturing, global distribution, commercial, marketing and administrative functions. Direct sales and product support to customers in the UK are based here together with sales and technical support provided to our distributor network in over 80 countries.

• Annual turnover of over £130 million (YE 30 Sept 2018) and good cash flows allow it to invest heavily in R&D and expansion of its production and commercial capabilities

• TBS has more than doubled its revenues in the last 5 years and has ambitious plans to repeat this over the next 5 years.
• We are at the forefront of research and development in our sector and this is recognised by the strong networks of scientific collaborators we have across the globe as well as winning the Queen’s award 3 times for export, innovation and international development.
