Python Developer
A leading commodities trading business is looking to hire a Junior Python Developer to join its front-office technology and analytics function in London.This role sits within a highly technical team supporting trading, risk, and quantitative analytics platforms across physical and derivatives markets. You'll work closely with traders, quants, and senior engineers on the development of modern data and analytics tooling used across the business.The environment is C# and Python-focused, with increasing adoption of cloud-native data technologies including Databricks, whilst also integrating with established quantitative pricing and risk platforms such as Numerix.This is an excellent opportunity for a junior engineer with strong Python fundamentals and exposure to data engineering or financial analytics to gain hands-on experience in a fast-moving commodities trading environment.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain Python-based analytics and data applicationsBuild and support Databricks workflows, notebooks, and data pipelinesAssist with integration of Numerix pricing and risk models into internal toolingWork with large market data and trade datasets across commodities productsSupport front-office users including traders, structurers, and risk teamsContribute to pricing, PnL, exposure, and risk reporting toolsImprove automation, data quality, and operational efficiency across the platformCollaborate with senior developers and quantitative teams on new analytics capabilitiesParticipate in debugging, testing, and production support activitiesTechnology EnvironmentPythonDatabricks / Apache SparkSQLPandas / NumPyGitREST APIsCloud technologies (Azure or AWS)Numerix (or equivalent pricing/risk platform)Jupyter / notebook-based analytics workflowsRequirements1-3 years' commercial Python development experienceStrong understanding of data structures and software engineering fundamentalsExperience working with data engineering or analytics toolingExposure to Databricks, Spark, or cloud-based data platformsUnderstanding of SQL and relational databasesExcellent problem-solving and communication skillsSTEM or Computer Science degree preferredNice to HaveExposure to commodities, trading, or financial marketsExperience with derivatives pricing or risk systemsKnowledge of Numerix or similar quant/risk platformsUnderstanding of ETL and data pipeline designExperience working in Agile delivery environmentsMcGregor Boyall is an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on any grounds.
