Payroll Team Leader Salary Range: £32,000 - £39,000 (Depending on experience)Location: Midsomer NortonJob Type: Full-time Reed is working with a trust that supports school communities and is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for experienced Payroller to join their team, The role involves working with an external payroll provider to manage payroll operations efficiently and effectively, adhering to service-level agreements and statutory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll management, preferably within an educational setting, and possess excellent leadership skills. Day to Day of the role: Manage the Payroll Team to ensure accurate and timely payment of staff, including the production and validation of payslips, statutory returns, and reports.Allocate workload effectively within the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and exceptional customer service.Maintain hands-on involvement in day-to-day payroll activities to ensure a smooth service and provide cover for all payrolls.Provide training and development opportunities for the team, including structured inductions for new starters.Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and monitor, resolve, and escalate payroll and pension issues.Oversee the integration of new schools into the Trust, ensuring a seamless transition in payroll, pension, and HR systems.Collaborate with Finance and HR departments to align processes and improve efficiency.Stay updated with relevant regulations and legislation, implementing changes and informing the team accordingly.Develop and maintain expertise in pension schemes used by the Trust and communicate payroll updates to staff effectively.Leading payroll and pension projects, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. Required Skills & Qualifications: Minimum 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths.Proven ability to lead and work within a team.Strong initiative and attention to detail.Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.Exceptional communication and customer service skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and payroll systems.Experience in payroll processing in line with HMRC requirements and pensions processing.Knowledge of Safer Recruitment, Safeguarding within Schools, and Keeping Children Safe in Education.Understanding of Teachers’ and School Support staff pay and conditions.Discretion and ability to resolve issues effectively.
