Accountant Location : Cwmbran Salary : £50,000 Temporary ongoing Full time 37 hours Purpose: To provide financial stewardship and business management support to the Head of Finance and wider department, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of organisational priorities. Key Responsibilities: Deputise for Head of Finance: Act as the Head of Finance's representative in their absence, providing support across the department and contributing to strategic initiatives.Team Management: Oversee the workload and performance of the finance team, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of tasks.Financial Planning: Contribute to the annual budget setting process, medium-term financial planning, and the maintenance of the budgetary control system.Business Advice: Provide financial advice and guidance to operational, tactical, and strategic decision-making.Financial Reporting: Prepare and quality assure statutory financial statements in accordance with relevant standards.Audit Liaison: Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and implement recommendations.Corporate Governance: Maintain the organisation's Financial Procedures Manual to ensure robust corporate governance.Board Support: Attend corporate meetings and boards to provide financial information and support decision-making.Fixed Asset Management: Maintain the organisation's fixed asset register.Grant Management: Oversee the financial management of externally funded grant schemes.Regulatory Reporting: Prepare statutory and non-statutory returns for external regulatory bodies.Treasury Management: Manage the organisation's investment portfolio.Supplier Appraisal: Provide financial appraisal support for potential external suppliers.Financial Systems: Maintain financial ledgers and computer systems to ensure accurate and timely financial information.Performance Analysis: Assist in the development and delivery of KPIs, objective analysis, and bench marking information.FOI Requests: Review FOI requests related to financial matters. General Tasks - Manager/Expert Level: Planning: Budget management, business plan preparation, and control.Finance: Financial analysis, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency initiatives.Reporting: Regular reporting to senior management and team meetings.Human Resources: Team leadership, performance management, succession planning, and training.Performance Management: Development and performance management of employees.Team Building and Communication: Effective communication and relationship building within the team.Quality and Compliance: Adherence to policies and procedures, customer service, bench-marking, and diversity and inclusion.Administrative Tasks: General administration, training, and meeting attendance.Health, Safety, and Statutory Compliance: Adherence to health and safety policies, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
