Mobile M&E Engineer (Defence Estate) Location: IP31 Salary: Up to £45,000 + Company Car / Car Allowance Job Type: Permanent, Full TimeHays are recruiting a Mobile M&E Engineer on behalf of a leading facilities management and accommodation maintenance provider to the UK military and its partners. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a key role in maintaining a critical defence estate while developing your career in a large, forward-thinking organisation.The RoleAs a Mobile M&E Engineer, you will be responsible for the effective, safe and timely delivery of mechanical and electrical services across multiple sites. You will ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work (including JSP375), support project delivery and provide technical leadership to site teams and the wider supply chain.Working closely with operational teams and stakeholders, you will help to drive service improvements, reduce corrective actions and identify opportunities that support the Ministry of Defence's carbon reduction targets.Key Responsibilities Ensure the effective and timely delivery of contractual M&E obligations across RAF Honington, RAF Marham and Wattisham Flying StationMaintain full compliance with MOD Safe Systems of Work, including JSP375Assess the competence of skilled personnel and support their ongoing developmentProduce high-quality Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for maintenance and project activitiesProvide technical support and professional advice to site teams, supply chain partners and end usersSupport project work, identifying and addressing any deficiencies that could impact estate safety, reliability or complianceContribute to the reduction of corrective actions and continuous improvement of maintenance and operational proceduresBuild strong relationships with colleagues, clients and key stakeholders to ensure seamless operational deliveryProvide supervision, assessment and coaching to skilled people, ensuring they work safely and within regulations.Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota as requiredTravel between sites as part of a mobile role (company car/car allowance provided) About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have: Fully qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer backgroundStrong practical experience with Safe Systems of Work, ideally including the management and operational delivery of JSP375Ideally, Authorised Person (AP) tickets in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines If you do not currently hold AP tickets, our client is prepared to put the successful candidate through all required AP training.Proven experience supervising site operations and managing resourcesExperience in staff leadership, mentoring and competency assessmentConfident decision-making and problem-solving skills, able to work independently across multiple sitesStrong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholdersFull UK driving licence (essential) and willingness to travel and participate in an on-call rota What's on Offer Salary up to £45,000 (depending on experience)Company car or car allowance6% employee-matched pension contribution25 days annual leaveSingle private medical coverCareer progression opportunities and nationally recognised qualificationsThe chance to make a real impact on a high-profile defensive estate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Hays EA is a trading division of Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited and acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
