Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Job Title: Trainee Quantity Surveyor Salary: £25,000 per annum + vehicle +Pension + Group Life Insurance Location: Salford, Manchester. With recent new business wins with multiple major clients adding to our existing portfolio of framework agreements and ongoing Major Projects, this is an exciting time to join our business. The Role We have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to work within the Commercial department. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Trainee Quantity Surveyor will assist in the provision of quantity surveying services under the direction of the Commercial Team and train as a Quantity Surveyor. The Person Most importantly we are looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven individual who is keen to learn and willing to be flexible to work within our small and experienced Commercial team. Hours of Work You will be required to work 40 hours from 8.00am to 5pm (Monday to Friday) though the nature of the role requires flexibility to work additional hours to meet the needs of the business. High Level Responsibilities Working as part of a team, as a trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will work towards independently carry out the following responsibilities: Provide quantity surveying services under the direction of the Commercial ManagerUndertake commercial functions of the projects assigned to you, maintaining strong relationships with the client & site teamsMake Client applications against project bill of quantitiesMaintain commercial project foldersComplete weekly sales based on work completedCarry out weekly site visits to establish progressAttend client meetings to ensure commercial presence throughout the project life cycleReview weekly costs for anomaliesEnsure subcontracts are placed prior to commencement of workApprove sub-contractor paymentsEnsure commercial governance procedures are followedIssue contract early warning and valuation of variationsProvide project forecast both internally and externally to the clientAssist the project manager with any disputes and progress to resolution Skills and Qualifications Good standard of education with excellent numerical skillsProficient in the use of Microsoft office suite particularly ExcelExcellent organizational skillsUsed to working to strict deadlinesYou will also require a full UK driving licence Working for us: We appreciate our people are our greatest asset and reward them accordingly with a competitive salary, range of additional benefits, and the opportunity to grow and develop with us.
